We all long for those lucious glam curls or effortless beachy waves but when it comes to curling your hair, one often wonders where to start, do I have time for this with my busy schedule, will the curls last and so on.

So where do you turn when you want those enviable curls? Here are some quick tips for curling your hair so you can have your best hair day yet.

Choose the right curling iron:

When choosing a curling method, familiarize yourself with the best products on the market to achieve the look without damaging your hair.

CERAMIC - Provides even heat distribution which minimizes the damage and have negative ions that smooth out and moisturize the hair

TITANIUM - Also provides even heat distribution as well as a smooth surface that prevents sticking and snagging.

TOURMALINE - Emits 6 times more negative ions that will smooth out the hair follicles and make hair appear silky and shiny

Select the type of curl you’re going for:

For tighter curls, going with a small-barreled iron is your best bet. For looser waves, try a large-barreled iron for that old Hollywood look. For that perfect side swoop, wrap the hair away from your face and pull the curl out toward the back of your head. Pulling the hair on the crown of your head forward with the iron will also give you that extra volume.

For best results, hold your iron vertically for looser curls, and horizontally for bouncier, tighter curls. For short hair, it’s best to use a small-barreled iron facing downward. Doing so will create tighter curls on the underside that will give the hair a bouncy, voluminous look.

  • For natural looking waves, let hair air dry after washing, then curl
  • For a voluminous look, blow dry to create that extra volume, then curl
  • For sleek curls, straighten your hair, then curl.

The drying methods will help your curling iron do its job while also eliminating the chance of burning your hair with it. For best results, It is not recommended to use an iron on wet hair.

Allow curls to set:

For long lasting curls, slide your hair off the wand into your hand to allow the curl to cool before dropping. This will allow your curl to set, resulting in longer-lasting curls. If you want to go a step further, you can clip your curls straight off the barrel in coils on the top of your head so they can fully cool and set. Then, for extra hold, spray the clipped curls before letting them down.

Look for shortcuts where possible:

Limited on time? Curl your hair while it’s in a high ponytail for quick, effortless waves. Once all of your hair is curled and cooled, take down your ponytail and spray with your favorite stylist product for a soft hold that will last all day.

For a natural, voluminous look, curl your hair away from your face on either side. The closer to the root you start the curl, the longer your curl will last.

While curling your hair may seem like a tedious task when you’re limited on time, practice makes perfect and the more you curl your hair, the more second nature it will become.
